    H.264/ MP4 compression washing out colors. I put settings on best possible quality and yet the colors are being washed out and look brighter than in the original.

    When opening the .mp4 in VLC the colors appear correct though but most people and clients use it with QT.

    I don't understand why this is happening. ?

    • good question .. have you tried adding an adjustment layer in AE with a slightly bumped up saturation and try exporting that to an mp4???Ramanisky2

    • color profiles won't do anything. and bumping up saturation isn't really solution either because if the mp4 is played in a different player it may vary againNBQ00
    • I started using another converter called Uniconverter on the Mac, that seems to get rid of that problem. Makes the file size slightly bigger though.PhanLo
