    Not really about Apple, but...

"Nvidia in Advanced Talks to Buy SoftBank’s Chip Company Arm"

    https://www.bloomberg.com/news/a…

This would mean the Apple transition to ARM would be bumpy.

    Bid accordingly...

    • Don’t you think Apple would’ve bought ARM if they thought it was necessary?NBQ00
    • They are approaching $200 billy in cash reserves. But is not the money, I see this as favouritism from Softbank for unknown reasons.grafician
    • But really, this should be concerning, as ARM has all the patents and nVidia will not be sharing after Apple chose ATIgrafician
    • Apple is going their own way even for GPU’s, duh. It’s both CPU & GPU on Apple’s own Silicon.NBQ00
    • Also it’s not ATI anymore, since ages. It’s fucking AMD. And Apple is going to switch to their own GPU based silicon in next years anyway :)NBQ00
    • For the next 2 years Apple is going to switch most of their Macs to Apple Silicon ARM based, both CPU & GPU. Then also Mac Pro will follow.NBQ00
    • Research CPU patents, ARM has many cards and is licensing to everybody now, but if nVidia get the patents, it will be a lot of fighting.grafician
    • Apple is producing its own silicon, but still licensing ARM tech - research for it, everybody is tied to ARMgrafician
    • Big big moves in this space, very weird year in techgrafician
    • ARM is a fabless chip designer, they design the systems and license them out. I doubt this change of ownership would do anything.zarkonite
    • They can't make it harder for one company to license it than another. That would be illegal.monospaced
    • @mono but certainly ask for more money and that's like the same thinggrafician
    • they can't ask more from one company than another, thats' unfairmonospaced
