My (pre-Retina) iMac is creeking towards its end-of-life, probably won't make it another year. At half or a third the price I'm wondering if a Mac Mini might not make more sense than going all in on a new iMac, and just use the old one as a monitor. I don't do anything more intensive than Adobe and don't need Retina for what I do, and could always upgrade the display later if that changes.
I've never given them any thought before, is there something I'm missing? Anyone else here switched from iMac to Mini?
- I am considering this https://www.macrumor…zaq
- Not keen to beta test new hardware myself. Got fucked on a refurbed macbook years ago when new solder wrecked the line and I didn't qualify for the fix.i_monk

- Haven't watched it, but Air has the weakest processor and lowest memory capacity of the three.i_monk
- My old work bought a load of minis. They were much better than I thought they would be. Only issue was not having a separate graphic card.Gnash
- I believe the newer minis have a separate GC?Gnash
- Some iMacs can’t be used as monitors - check it out if that’s part of your decisionGnash
