I use that exact same 17 inch system, except with the full gig of ram. I also run a 20 inch sony when at home as a secondary monitor, it is a fantastic computer.
Flash is however, somewhat slower than on my PC P4 2.6, but I have never had the problems that people are talking about here, iie corrupting files etc, also everything else is similar in speeds as the 2.6 and large files in photoshop seem to be significantly faster in saving opening rendering layers/effects.
So I guess it's really up to you, I love mine, I use it all the time and have relegated the Pentium to video game console.
