my 11 y/o macbook pro has just about had it so i need to upgrade, the question is what do I get?
new version of mackbook pro OR ipad pro.
need it for my adobe suite
photoshop
illustrator
and web work.I do a little video in premier and aftereffects but could limit that to my imac if i had to.
I need it more for my home office and on the go.
I'd love to have the drawing/pencil capabilities of the ipad pro and at 2k cheaper than the macbook it's looking like a pretty good option.
just curious if the workflow can go between an ipad and an imac, psd files, ai files etc.
- In my experience...still running into issues with workflow when trying to use iPad for professional work.yuekit
- It's closer than it was in the past but you still run into annoying limitations. I wouldn't bank on it for real design or web stuff.yuekit
- Shit ok, thanks figured it wasn’t quite there yet thus the price difference_niko
- imac + ipad if you don't need to work in between places.oey_oey
- my macbook pro 2009 died and I bought myself and macbook pro 2012 to use as a in between solution while I'm saving money for the imac I really need.oey_oey
- I also bought an iPad and can't wait to try this sidecar thing.oey_oey
- This guy did exactly what you describe:

Resutls weren't great.face_melter - Yeah there are aspects of work you can do very well on an iPad Pro, but you can't do "heavy" design work yet.nb
- Best combo for design in my mind is MBP 16" plus big external monitor plus an iPad pronb
