Watergate: A couple people affiliated with the Nixon campaign unbeknownst to him attempted to break into and bug a hotel in which his political opposition would be staying, and upon finding out about it Nixon then tried to cover it up.
Obamagate: The entire intelligence and investigative apparatus of the US government was intentionally weaponized under direct orders from the then-President and used to spy on members of his political opposition's campaign, then used to frame said opponent with an allegation of collusion with a foreign government using known-bad intelligence reporting paid for by the then-President's own party. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
