I think a non paid work experience or Internship is plain wrong (unless you're actually still at university). An apprenticeship is the right way to do this.
Advertising agencies are fifty times worse than design agencies. Ad agencies seem to relish making potential employees sweat for a position, and then pay them fuck all when they get one, keep them on short term contracts, give them loads of crap like "you're really important to us" whilst the upper management get paid £££ and hold huge parties!
