Idk, why not just change it to "to serve and protect the people" to get the priorities straight real quick...
p.s. this more or less can apply to all police in many other countries, police abuse & brutality is spread worldwide (recent examples comes to mind in India police beating people up with sticks to force them to stay home during coronavirus lockdowns, riot police in France during recent protests, also in the UK)
