There is only 1.3 lbs difference between the 15" and 17".
To me it is totally worth carring the extra 1.3 lbs of the 17 "around. You can set the 17" down anywhere and its like a desktop.
Sugesstions:
Don't slide your powerbook. Alsways pick it up a bit and set it back down. The little rubber feet/pads will break off if you do this too much.
