I guess Mac's will use a custom processor based on ARM?

Apple is in essence a consumer company so it doesn't surprise me. Will they be weak chips?? wtf

hold on to your butts :/

    • The ARM Cpu's currently in iPad Pro's are super powerful and efficient. Almost as powerful as MBP's yet much more efficient and no fans either.NBQ00
    • It makes sense for Apple to make the switch because Intel has sucked for years and stagnated. Apple will be on 5nm ARM cpu's while Intel is still at 10nm chipsNBQ00
    • Apple doesn't make their own chips, it's TSMC+Samsung fabbing for them. Everyone has access to the new processes, AMD is shipping 7nm CPUs right now. Apple willzarkonite
    • get there as fast as everyone else, it's out of their control really. IBM already has 5nm small scale fabrication in place.zarkonite
    • Not true zarko. Apple licenses ARM and designs their own custom chip. Of course the mass production is done by TSMCNBQ00
    • Exactly, and the ability to make circuits this small is in the hands of the foundry. They can design anything they want in theory but the real test is inzarkonite
    • manufacturing them. They design the machines and test the yields until it's economically viable.zarkonite
    • Here's some in depth info: https://www.anandtec…zarkonite
