I was thinking of buying a RAV4 Hybride to camp. Air matress inside and putting my gears and stuff on the roof in one of those compartment thing and on the front seats during the night. There's air matress specially made for SUVs.

    • The room size is 71" in lenght wich is enough to sleep inBennn
    • Those fitted air mattresses are cool. They should have one fitted for your exact model. Don't skimp on sleeping comfort.lemmy_k
    • Not sure on your reasons for this over a tent but for me I'd take that option for the extra space/comfort.webazoot
    • this option over a tent, its just easier to sleep almost anywhere on a roadtrip, just park somewhere and sleep.Bennn

    • instead of buying an entire car, couldn't you just buy a really expensive tent that sets itself up? Isn't that a thing?nb

    • There aren't a lot of places that allow you to park your car and sleep in it. There are laws that prevent this for good reason.monospaced
    • That's the main reason you don't see more of this. So definitely make sure you find places where this is permitted before committing. Cheers.monospaced
    • Let it go, bennn. Sleeping in cars sucks. You won’t be able to put all your gear on roof. Get a tent or a little trailer to sleep inGnash

    • I'm sure you could do this and, if it was just to grab a few hours sleep to get somewhere fast then it'll work but comfort wise I think its lacking.webazoot
    • Myself and most of my friends have moved to inflatible tents over the past 2 or 3 years. Easy/quick to put up/down and lots of space.webazoot
    • thanks for all your comments guys, i will continue to think about itBennn
