    Robo,

I agree with your comment - nobody in their right mind is on the side of the police unless they’re just completely racist, worthless idiots, but the thing to remind them is that hypocritical nature of supporting someone who emboldens police brutality. I wrote the following on FB:

I would be remiss if I did not remind every single person who continues to support Donald Trump while also posting their outrage about the death of George Floyd, that the president you support gave the following endorsement of police brutality against black Americans:

"When you see these towns and when you see these thugs being thrown into the back of the paddy wagon, you just see them thrown in, rough. I said please don’t be too nice. Like when you guys put somebody in the car and you’re protecting their head, you know, the way you put your hand over? Like don’t hit their head and they’ve just killed somebody. Don’t hit their head. I said you can take the hand away, okay?"

I would be remiss if I did not remind you that the president you support has never apologized for calling for the execution of young black teenagers who were wrongly convicted of raping a jogger in Central Park in 1989, their confessions coerced by police. The men were later exonerated for having nothing to do with that crime after DNA evidence confirmed the assault was committed by a man named Matias Reyes, who surfaced in 2002 and confessed to the crime.

You either support an obviously racist man who appears to get off from oppression and police brutality against black Americans, or you don't support an obviously racist man who appears to get off from oppression and police brutality against black Americans. There is no in-between. There's simply being right, and being wrong. You can be compassionate and sad about George Floyd's death - and we all should have those feelings - but you can't be oblivious to the enablement and glorification of police brutality by the president of the United States that you voted for and God forbid may vote for again in November.

    • I read the quote, the words "black people" wasn't in it. Also, read up on CP5, the woman raped even disagreed with deBlasio settling case. Get educated.robotron3k
    • Ah, yes, he was probably talking white thugs.mg33
    • The reason I give all you stupid gringos shite is because I dont want your privileged white asses lecturing ME about racism.robotron3k
    • Tell me more about how us dark people are oppressed, I love stories....robotron3k
    • I see. I see. Empathy is impossible unless a personal is identical to the person they’re expressing empathy for. Do I have that about right?mg33
    • I actually believe it could be shocking if you changed places with a minority. Have you read the book Black like me?robotron3k
    • I have not, and I fully believe you that it would be shocking. I’m simply trying to say that it is possible to be empathetic and want change for others evenmg33
    • ... if they’re a different ethnicity, color, etc.mg33
    • That sense of empathy is not unique to anything or anyone. It’s a human expression that we’d be better off seeing in many more people these days.mg33
    • I guess what I'm saying is, it shouldn't offend you, or be impossible to understand, that we don't have to be the same to agree on changes needed.mg33
    • True, as a white man, my experiences have never involved that which minorities experience on a daily basis. But that doesn't mean I can't want better for them.mg33
    • I hope that makes sense. :) This issue is truly something we should not be at odds about simply because of our skin color.mg33
    • I understand and appreciate your thoughts. Yes you def can have empathy, this is innately human 100%. But going into day to day racism is unreal, I worked yearsrobotron3k
    • never got raises or promotion. People can look at my surname and they know my role. Imagine someone can just look at your name and do that.robotron3k
    • I'm glad we agree. :) My entire life I've never viewed people as inferior or incapable because of race or color. More a matter of good / bad, evil / kind.mg33
    • While I can't legitimately say I understand as if I've walked in your shoes, I abhor it as much as you and I want positive change as much as you.mg33
    • Jeezus h christ. If u can't understand the giant bullshit jump from a cop killing to race and presidential candidate I'm bummed for u
