  The leggedness might start getting complex and a bit haphazard. If you can accept wheeled robots, could Lego Mindstorms robots be worth a look here? Could glue the resultant robot's bits together together to stop the kids pulling them apart!

  • Otherwise I fear you're going to have to get a bit deep into Arduino/Pi based setups and cobbling together different solution types into one bundle.Nairn
  • The good thing about mindstorms is that if it does work, you can share the code with the kids - I think it's all doen in Scratch?Nairn
