Let's talk about kitchens.
It is struggle to choose what I want and most of the local kitchen designers are mediocre the best. Well known brands (mostly German) seem quality however not flexible. They have collection and you can get that. + €€€
So what do you guys think.
MDF for doors seems not so strong. Wood they say is not the best and mostly you have darker colours + wood texture. I have open living room with kitchen corner and I have decided to get something light and minimalistic.
Veneer - not many companies offer that. I really like Veneer + linoleum cover.Tabletop. Initial plan was stone however it seems but too classy or boring. I have been thinking about terazzo.
Would really like linoleum table top cover too however it probably won't last long + heat could cause problems. So today I found out that steel could be used too. I am wondering if it would last if steel is painted to light blue? And then you have appliances. I don't plan to spend time in kitchen. So probably I don't want to invest into Miele or other top brand. Bosch maybe, however I have heard that it is not very reliable recently. I could get Electrolux equipment with same spec much cheaper. I could even say that I prefer design for some Electrolux items but not sure how is usability and how reliable they are.
- Mdf will swell if moisture gets at it. The ones that have vinyl coating delaminates if it’s close to heat / moistureGnash
- Solid wood, painted or natural have the most longevityGnash
- Baltic ply with a good veneer is a nice option - the reveal on Baltic ply is beautifulGnash
- Zinc countertops are cool. unfinished —igets a nice patina after a whileGnash
- terrazzo is sweetGnash
- Bosch are no longer reliable from personal experience and long conversations with engineers fixing said appliances.fadein11
- Thanks! Yeah plywood looks nice however I feel that bit too much for small city flat. Zinc sounds interesting.dpi
- I've never had problems with Bosch equipment, but Miele does have a reputation for better quality. Even if you don't spend much time in there ...Continuity
- ... it's still worth investing in quality kit that you can have in good nick for 10-15 years or more.Continuity
