Well, what a day...
So my iMac crashed this afternoon :(
All Apple shops are closed ofc because of the quarantine so no help in sight :(
After a few hours of thinking what to do, I remembered I still had somewhere an ooooooold Macbook Proooo, like really old since before unibody Macs...
Searched for it in the house, found it and IT LIVES!
But actually the keyboard and trackpad are dead so I spent another hour trying to add the bluetooth keyboard and mouse from the iMAc to get them to work with this old MB Pro and I finally did it!
Happy to be browsing QBN again from an ancient Mac OS X 10.5.8 Core 2 4GB RAM MBpro!
Now I need to figure out how to come up with the cash for a new Mac as I can't fix my iMac for at least another month as all repair shops and apple retailers are fucken closed :((
I can only order online for a new one BUT I don't have a couple Gs for a new machine as I'm running on fumes here with this corona situation :(
This sucks, but hey at least I can browse QBN again...
I hope you guys doing better, hugs!
p.s. I can browse only simple websites like mostly text and images, can't even open Youtube on this old machine :(

- if in the uk: https://www.hoxtonma…shapesalad
- nope, in Bucharest (RO), we're under strict quarantine, can't do nothing here :(********
- Have you thought about finding some troubleshooting tutorials and attempt to fix it yourself?zarkonite
- I'm on mobile, trying to find how to fix an imac, thinkthe SSD is dead, but don't have the tools :(********
- looks like you need to open the screen, as everything is behind the imac's screen, to get to the ssd, this is beyond me at this point...********
- Tools are cheap just find out which multi-tool has all the bits you need. Parts can be hard to come by, but if it is the SSD you might be able to do it yourself********
- ^ik I did a ssd swap for another MBP a few years back, but iMacs are different beasts man, the repair doesn't look like 1 man job from these videos********
- complete iMac refresh coming this year.... I'd say if getting replacement make it a cheap temporary one for now.inteliboy
- My dishwasher broke down. 3 years old only. Sucks as well. All the best, grafician!SimonFFM
- If you can browse QBN on your old laptop why do you need a new computer?NBQ00
- There are no Mac rentals in Ro?OBBTKN
- Rentals more expensive than repairs, but still in lockdown until 15th May so...no rentals********
- I switched my main workstation to PC 3 months ago. If such thing has happened there are a bunch of PC repairshops that are still operating undr quarantineBeeswax
- I'm so happy btw. Not looking back at Mac. I have an old MB Air laying around if I ever need that platform.Beeswax
- Ik what you're saying, but Mac or PC you still need $2-3k to get a workstation :))********
- Currently this old MBPro has Photoshop CS5 on it...yeah, that old :))********
- You can build a pc faster than the new mac pro for like $1500, building a pc today is as easy as legos manmoldero
- I built 2 in the past month, i was on mac pro towers for the past 15 years, i got sick of them breakingmoldero
- Plus wasnt a fan of the lack of the ability to customize them, im a designer ffsmoldero
- Go pc man, you wont regret itmoldero
- Come to the dark sidemoldero
- my daughters Ryzen 5 I built for her was $900, its fast as fuck & VR readymoldero
- virtualisation? until shop opensapi
- lol, guys, I'm writing from a 2006 machine that still happens to work, common, virtualisation :)) thanks********
- will be good, I actually found a repair shop still available under the radar, sent the imac to them today, waiting for a reply tomorrow********
