Six days so far with drastically reduced news consumption. No DrudgeReport, no conspiracy forums, just the occasional Apple News article as a recap of the day. It's great.

I should have started this weeks ago, but got up and took a walk for a mile this morning to start getting in the same distance I do walking from the train to my office downtown.

Got out of the house yesterday to take a drive with my family; my wife hadn't been in the car in six weeks, I've been the only one driving and we're only getting groceries delivered now.

Doing some serious daydreaming about buying a small weekend place on some water in southern Wisconsin in the next few years. Something that's under 2 hours from where we live. I'd love to have a place like that now to go on the weekends, maybe a little land, build something prefab / modular, head up there on Fridays to unwind and disconnect and go hiking and fishing and stuff. Mentioned the idea to my mom in Texas over the weekend, and now she and my stepdad are thinking about moving closer to us when he retires in two years. Would be nice to have them close as they get older.

    • A very close friend of mine who I visit every year has a house on a lake in Wisconsin. Love going there in the summer.Ramanisky2
    • Hell yes!nb
    • You really don't ever need to look at Drudge Report. Unless you work directly in politics or newsmedia or gossip, there is nothing there worth reading.nb
    • That's nice Ram! We go to Door County once in a while, went just this past October. It's a bit long of a drive - 3-4 hours from where we are north of Chicagomg33
    • I really like the terrain and wooded aspect of it though. That's what I want, some natural privacy, nothing in a regular neighborhood.mg33
    • I've been to Mercer before, too, it's way too far but just amazing up there. Lakes everywhere, heavy forests, clean air.mg33
