As I said before I’m a Musk & Tesla fan but here’s my biggest criticism (should this idea even come to life one day at all)... which is: On one hand he wants the world to get rid of fossil fuels but on the other hand he talked about using SpaceX BFRockets for commercial transportation on earth. Which of course would so not be environmentally friendly.

SpaceX's Falcon Heavy, the world's heaviest operational rocket, burns about 400 metric tons of kerosene and emits more carbon dioxide in a few minutes than an average car would in more than two centuries.

So unless the BFR goes all electric this is a big contradiction on Musk’s part. The other question is will it even be possible at all anyway.

    • The concept behind these things is based on EP which is currently used in close orbit navigation. We're decades away from a solution.sted

    • Just as an aside, Ships belch out profligate amounts of Sulphur and Nitric oxides, but are comparable per passenger mile with flying with Carbon DioxideNairn
