Did anyone not pay their rent this month because they didn't have to?
- I'll keep paying until I can, even though in Germany you can't be evicted for non-payment for the next few months. My conscience won't let me ...Continuity
- ... not pay, if I'm able.Continuity
- until I can't*, ratherContinuity
- You still have to pay eventually.monospaced
- Def, but I don't want to be one of these assholes who tries to capitalise on the circumstances by trying to sneak out of paying. I'll pay until I really can't.Continuity
- And by the time I get to the point where it looks like I really can't, I hope my employment circumstances will have changed anyway.Continuity
- How would someone sneak out of paying? Who is capitalizing on this?monospaced
- Nobody is capitalizing. Nobody is getting free rent unfortunately. There’s no loophole that I’m aware of either.monospaced
- Well, in the case of Uruguay, banks and companies refinanced several 3-month payments, without surcharge.maquito
- The problem, I think, for many is going to be that when they have to pay the first "whole" fee, within 3 months, added to the other 3 fees summed up.maquito
- I think many will have big trouble paying their "regular" rent, for example, with the 3 refinanced fees altogether.maquito
- And THEN, is when banks, etc. will start charging again.maquito
- I think it's business. It's not like if bankers had said "hey, let's make a campaign to help people", period.maquito
- It's more like "Ok, how can we get revenue from this crisis while 'helping' people in need?".maquito
- banks are lenders, they can’t operate if people don’t make paymentsmonospaced
- I know, mono. I’m just pissed. Bored. Sorry if I’m hard to read.maquito
- mono its called the CARES act.********
- get with the times. all the banks books being backstopped, but what about those that rely on investment income from renting... that is gonna be dicey********
- Many landlords have mortgage forgiveness too, coinciding with rent. But of course there will be loss of money, that's what's happening everywhere.monospaced
- The fact still stands that payments are still due, eventually. For everyone. Nobody is getting a free pass.monospaced
- do they have it if they own the property? Smart long term investment is property owned and paid for. No the truth is plenty are getting a free pass at the********
- expense of others. I haven't seen any bailouts for owners of property. but see they cant evict or look for new tenants to pay either. its pretty fucked up.********
- gov pick winners and losers as usual.********
- Nobody is getting a free pass. It’s just delayed. And property owners don’t pay rent so really that is absolutely irrelevantmonospaced
- property owners pay rent as mortgage or property taxes. are you that fuckin stupid. rhetorical we know the answer********
