it's time people need to take a long deep look into what statism/authoritarianism is. take a deep breath, stare it in the face, accept it for what is, understand it's danger, and hold it accountable. it's never been a solution to the problems that it creates.

please understand that in a free world Hitler was a scrawny little dweeb that would have gotten picked on and beat up for acting the way he did. yet because he was the leader of a state apparatus, all the little minions obeyed and carried out his orders. Hitler is not dangerous, the state is the danger.

why is this so hard to understand?

    • In case you haven't noticed, there's lots of idiots around, smart people that can do something too few these days...
      ********
    • He survived WWI, managed to jostle his way to power with ruthless conniving, evil charisma, murder and propaganda.

The epitome of a dangerous individual.

    • Yeah, I'm feeling the same thing... we saved the World from Hitler, but all of Europe still has PTSD.robotron3k
    • And her removed the state apparatus to get there.monoboy
    • *hemonoboy
    • reality is german citizens loved hitler, were envious of his power, and proud to obey. statism is a mindset, 'cheney'ing' the minions to the political 'dicks'bliznutty
    • He rigged the ballot to give himself total power in the 30s and 4 million Germans still voted against him.monoboy
    • He murdered everyone that go in his way.monoboy
    • mono, if the system was hijacked by a single man - why did the millions of minions still obey rather than resist and carry out justice? statism is a cultbliznutty
    • They did resist. He killed them. Put them in death camps.monoboy
    • The rest bought into it with the mass employment and nationalism.monoboy
    • eh... you can't let the German people off the hook, the Nazi party was a mass movement with members across all social classes.Khurram
    • If you can convince people that they are poor or oppressed unjustly because of another race or creed it soon gathers pace.monoboy
    • 'he killed them' or did government 'create and mandate laws' so thus the average citizen could be criminalized? divide citizenry & conquer? sound familiar?bliznutty
    • Not letting anyone off the hook. Just explaining how totalitarianism takes root.monoboy
    • Why do you ALWAYS talk about this year after year after year as if there was something you or anyone is doing to change it.monospaced
    • Because you’re only describing the basic status and nothing more. It’s devoid of anything actionable. Worse is you come off as lecturing. You are the same as usmonospaced
    • Everyone jumps to conclusions because it's easier than distinguishing the facts.monoboy
    • So if I google statism and look at it and everyone does, what? Then it’s all magically better? Please. Your solution to the issue is to read a wiki?monospaced
    • Hold it accountable? What is IT? How do you hold an idea accountable? How are YOU doing that? Can you possible be more vague? Weird.monospaced
    • you funny! but you're free and have choices. owning yourself, liberty & namaste are virtuous ideas, being owned isn't.

    • What was it that Reinhold Niebuhr said about using oversimplifications? (You'll find that on WikiPedia too).monoboy
    • lol, yeah, you sent a fucking wiki page for a WORD. As I predicted. You preach nothing that isn’t in a dictionary as a definition alreadymonospaced
    • I asked questions. What action. What is accountable? How are you in ANY way not a part of the system you decry? Fucking LOLmonospaced
    • You earn dollars. You pay taxes. You buy goods from China and contribute to the machine, pollution and everything else typical of dictionary American capitalismmonospaced
    • calm down dude.. geez. i understand you're so hopelessly dependent on the system that you will defend it, regardless if its moral, or has good-intentions.bliznutty
    • you're just screaming at me saying "i would've been a nazi and never resisted! what's your point?"bliznutty
    • also citizens don't "pay" taxes. at the end of the day taxes are taken by forcebliznutty
    • ...in exchange for things the state provides like schools, infrastructure, police, military, business etc.monoboy
    • a society with no accountability, recourse or basic shit like roads to drive on sounds fun but it might be a bit 'inefficient'.monoboy
    • You can have collective power and resources without infringing on personal rights. If you have respect for more than just yourself of course.monoboy
    • Sadly for Americans, a lot of their tax dollars go into private pockets.monoboy
    • A lot of politicians merely serve private interests and not the public they represent.monoboy
    • I've bored myself now. Here endeth today's sermon.monoboy
    • Dude blitz. You’re AS dependent on it as I am. You aren’t above the system you exist in. You are a commoner.monospaced
    • even if he is mono he isnt trying to justify it as moral. that is the bug difference and the point. and free minds inside systems are never truely part of them
      ********
    • shit Mb with his you can have collective power resources without infringing on personal rights... hell give an example
      ********
    • becuase im gonna call bullshit on that statement
