A few to check out:
The Bird People of China (1998) -
Directed by Miike TakashiFor folks not familiar with this director - he is known for Hyper-violent depictions of Yakuza and Horror, but in 1998 he directed a really beautiful piece I highly recommend - out of his prolific career, It may be considered his most subtly touching film IMO...
Kundun (1997)
Directed by Martin ScorseseThis was a very beautiful film that went under the radar when it came out. There are actually some stunning visuals capture on film - almost psychedelic (personally tested...) of the colored sand mandalas monks create and then destroy as a symbolic gesture of the lifecycle...
Worth the watch ; )If you're into this historical type of film - there's also the wonderfully directed film "The Last Emperor" by Bernardo Bertolucci
Kafka (1991)
Directed by Steven SoderberghA really fun film that taps into Noir, Mystery Thriller and even some Horror elements - Very Gilliam-esque in its portrayal of the main character's journey into a twisted reality fighting against society's push for order.
It even has Obi-Wan Kenobi along with a host of other great cameos
Dreamscape (1984)
Directed by Joseph RubenOne hell of a ride haha - I try to watch this once a year - pretty bonkers and that damn snake creeps me out to this day since I was a kid...
