Our good friend’s brother is 40, a broadway performer that many of you probably know of. He’s healthy as it gets, and he’s laying in a Manhattan hospital right now waiting for a ventilator that the nurses have told him and his wife he’s unlikely to see.

Stay safe out there everyone. Hope you’re all well.

    • Fuck. Which hospital.

    • Oh, healthy, young and not a medical worker, that's not good. Hope he doesn't need the vent.

    • Which hospital doesn’t matter, does it?monospaced
    • I don’t know the exact hospital, we’re just trying to comfort our friend. And yeah he‘s showing signs he needs a ventilator.ben_
    • If I have to go to Emergency, I might want to avoid the hospital that a 40 year old healthy person isn't even getting approved for ventilator.

    • Just trying to keep aware of the changing situation around me. Not all hospitals are equal

    • Apparently he's at a good hospital with ample coverage. There's a shortage, he's waiting and apparently just not bad enough yet.ben_
    • @nb, there is only one form of the virus, and all hospitals have people in need of ventilators with the virus. It really doesn't matter which hospital.monospaced
    • I live right next to the NYU Langone campus and Bellevue. So I know where I’d end up. Eek.monospaced
    • I just posted this because he's in our age range (many of us) otherwise healthy and with a family. Hits very close to home. I only know a handful of you outsideben_

    • Yes, it's very tragic. :( My thoughts go out to him and you, as a relatively-healthy 40-year-old myself.monospaced
