Stood in line in the rain for 40 minutes to get into Trader Joe's this morning. The subway down there was pretty vacant. About 50% of NYers on the UWS were wearing masks. The MTA buses went free this week and I took that home. They've roped off the drivers and asked the riders to enter and exit through the rear of the bus. I rode alone for about 30 blocks. Strange. Of course, once I got back to Harlem it started to fill up. Because Harlem never gives a fuck.

Hadn't seen this previously. apologies if posted earlier. JRE episode with Michael Osterholm of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy posted ten days ago. Some interesting info about epidemiology and expectations that I haven't seen here or elsewhere. Additional talk about Flu, Lyme etc. A slower dialog. Not so soundbitten.

TLDR: They think obesity is as bad as smoking towards mortality rates and that will be the USAs biggest health problem wrestling it. Stay healthy, lose weight, get sleep.

    • @MrAbominable stay safe !Krassy
    • i posted bits of it and got many downvotes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯Bennn
    • I don't really understand why people are still using public transit to get to Trader Joe's in NYC.
      ********
    • You put yourself at considerable risk by traveling so far to get groceries. Just get stuff elsewhere, no?
      ********
    • NYC is SO populous that you expose yourself to risk everywhere. There aren't safe options. And mostly we don't have cars so we can't hoard as easily.MrAbominable
    • Also, never have i ever advocated Kelly Clarkson. My link looks like it got jacked...

    • @Bennn, sorry for the repost. I missed it earlier.MrAbominable
    • no problem at all on my sideBennn
    • You can and should have gone to a closer grocery store. I also live in Manhattan and there is no reason to get on a bus to get groceries.monospaced
    • It isn't so populous that you can't avoid exposure risk. C'mon dude.monospaced
    • The only reason you stood in line that long was because they are limiting capacity in the store. It's a shorter line than you usually have getting OUT!monospaced
    • the only reason i stood in line that long was because they changed the opening hours and didn't post them. Not a big deal, throttle back. Just sharing.MrAbominable
    • You conveniently left that out, leading us to believe the line was due to crowding, or somethjing else anyone might imagine. Posting Rogan? Throttle down ;)monospaced
    • I live in NYC. Not risking the bus/subway to my usual trips to TJ's. Plenty of grocery options within a few blocks of me.

    • I didn't conveniently do anything. I gave an outline of my commute. I'm currently making coffee, does that trigger you too?MrAbominable
