Thousands of small businesses are going to go under and probably take small property management companies and landlords (etc) with them, while the corporate infrastructure of large businesses and multinationals will continue to exist six, nine or twelve months from now. They'll fire thousands of workers and be in a position to hire them back later (likely with government help that will never need to be repaid), while there will be no trace left of the small businesses—the owners will be forced to move on and work elsewhere, their staff will be out of work and take whatever they can get, the property and such will be auctioned off and spaces left to sit vacant (lots of places slashed taxes for vacant commercial space).

My sister and brother-in-law opened an award-winning restaurant a year ago (the anniversary was last week), and had to fire all the staff the other day. It's now just my b-i-l in the kitchen cooking for delivery, but they don't know day to day whether they should be ordering supplies and keep going, whether financial aid will kick in, etc.

    • As a small business owner myself, I have faith that the small guy is resilient and will rebuild. I personally don't see myself ever going to work for a big guytoemaas
