Ah fuck - I've been dithering (for very mundane reasons) on checking with an elderly neighbour (well-known artist guy for anyone paying attention to my shitty posts) - at least to give him my number in case of emergency
I just popped to the shops and noticed an elderly couple up ahead, and blokie was on the floor. I sprint as fast as I could muster to them, as a van pulled up quickly and the driver jumped out and did the same. Gadgie had not taken a bad tumble and seemed ok - his wife was the more shook up, so we help him up and after checking, get on our way.
Wifey was a picture of everything that is wrong with modern society and it totally cut me up - after realising there was nothing more we could do and nothing more they wanted from us I walked off and - I got to admit: I very nearly burst into tears. Pussy that I am.
I hope to God they have friends, family and neighbours who they can rely on.
Anyway, that was what I needed to pull my thumb out of my arse. Doesn't matter what neighbour might think about my approach, it matters that I at least try and do SOMETHING.
All I could think about was my poor old long-departed Gran. Need to try and make her proud.
