U.S. Coronavirus Cases Explode. How Long Before the Hospital System Collapses?

"As a bed manager at a large hospital in a major metropolitan area, I will add my thoughts. We are beyond unprepared for this. My advice to anyone reading this is to isolate as hard as you can, for as long as you can. My father-in-law, if he catches this, is a goner. I have seen the chest x-rays of patients here in the ICU. One experienced doctor said he has never seen anything like this before. An ICU bed and proper treatment might save your life, but will the bed be available when you need it? We need many times the capacity that we currently have, and hospitals (at least here) are moving too slowly to make the necessary changes. From my research, we need (nationwide) at least five times the number of ICU beds we currently have. And that will only succeed IF we maintain this high level of quarantine/isolation for the next 3 months.
If you don't isolate hard until the number of ICU beds are boosted, you will be in trouble. We are already out of ICU beds, and this is just beginning."
