i really wish there was a way to move UI elements around on programs like Illustrator (this is prod for one of you genius' to go "Nairn you thicko, that's been do-able since CS1").

One function I use a heck of a lot - and have done for 12 years now, in what I do - is 'select similar objects' I click on an asset and use this function to select all assets with the same feature, be it colour or stroke thickness or whatever.

Last update, Adobe added 'Start editing similar shapes together' which outwardly sounds useful, but isn't really (for me, anyway).

The icon for this sits at the right of the 'control' menu, whereas before the right-most icon was the function I use.

There's over a decade's worth of muscle memory making me press the new functon many times each day. It's driving me fucking nuts.

    • You can do that in Macromedia Freehand. Similar to C4D, create custom panels of freq used menu items/tools... Oh, no wait, Adobe bought that and killed it.shapesalad
    • I use Symbols to do things like that. They aren't just for Flash export; Think of them as AI's equivalent to PS's Smart Objects.evilpeacock
    • That's not really how I use the function - I'm not making design work with re-used assets as such, I'm ensuring that all like-assets are treated the same for prNairn
    • ..ocessing via a machine. It's basically CAD, but not fucking CAD.Nairn
