I'm a bit dumb sometimes. Often.
I'm 'helping' a friend do some bits and pieces for a [insert type] cafe in East LDN - all very hip and of the moment.
They want some membership keyfob/ring type things doing, because reasons, and specified a 'natural' medium, so obviously i suggested leather, because it's durable, pocket and bottom-of-bag friendly and will take branding nicely.
I was met with a look of horrified disgust because, if you're paying attention to which thread I'm writing this in - she's very vegan. This is not the theme of the cafe, but it's another of its facets.
A shame. Leather would work great here. Oh well. haha
- if they had the budget, I'd be curious to try messing around with that mycelial 'leather', but they don't.Nairn
- use cork fabric / leather instead.uan
- I've worked with cork fabric quite a bit and find it an interesting material - but I don't think it would last very long in this contextNairn
- Ethically sourced leather? From roadkill? She would be saving the planet by not letting it decay and release greenhouse gasses? Lol_niko
- think again...cork is like alien material. resistant as fuckuan
- As I say, I've used it quite a lot... .
@niko - not sure that squashed urban fox or pigeon would be on-brand here ;)Nairn - what about that recycled plastic stuff that all essential clothing seems to be made of, be it shoes, clothes or whatever.hans_glib
- As well as being ostensibly environmentally-frie... they want it to look as such too, so no recycled plastics, etc. I suspect it'll just be made out of plywoodNairn
- ..and probbaly not even particularly environmentally-frie... stuff. It's funny seeing how quickly people cave when they see how much things costNairn
- oh ffs, qbn - it would be nice if there was some thought put into whatever code you have that breaks long character strings! xNairn
