i'm guessing what he's really railing against is the democratisation of music that tech has achieved. it allows talentless idiots like me to produce credible recordings that previously only properly talented musicians like him could get access to.

    • But what differentiates you from a talented musician? There's a genre for every single one of us now. I make noise-glitch plop!Ianbolton
    • er... talent?hans_glib
    • it must be pretty tough for musos to see that they're on a level footing with the plebs their talent is supposed to set them apart from.hans_glib
    • which is why i guess they play live so much more - something i could never do as it would just be me standing by the 'play' button on my computer...hans_glib
    • indeed it goes both ways, and it's cyclical. democratisation of music that's led to the popularity of technical musicians with the youth will in turn spawn thekingsteven
    • opposite, as prog spawned the sex pistols... it's important not to quantify music more than you need to figure out what you enjoy.kingsteven
