Trump definitely deserved to be impeached not just for this but about 100 other things.

IMO Democrats should have gone after him on the corruption stuff. He is profiting from businesses all around the world while making foreign policy decisions that affect those businesses, while also not releasing any financial info. I don't know how anyone can defend that or why it is not talked about more.

However let's not kid ourselves that impeachment is going to decide the 2020 election one way or the other, or that anyone is even going to be talking about this in three months given how the US media works. They will just move on to the next sensationalist crisis of the day while continuing to ignore bigger issues.

    • It's worse than that, people will be polarized, pulling either full R or full D when voting. So 2020 could wipe out the Dems.robotron3k
    • lol where have you been for the past two years, the country is already completely polarized.yuekit
    • @yuekit it all started waaaay back, he should've never even got the candidacy. but, he did. and then he won. it says a lot about 'murica... sorry.renderedred
    • trump is just a "symptom" just like boris and his landslide victory.renderedred
    • btw, this impeachment circus is winning trump 2020...renderedred
    • I actually don't think it will matter at all. You have to keep in mind that American media has an extremely short attention span. They will do blanket coverageyuekit
    • of something like impeachment while it's going on with endless breaking news alerts. Then a few weeks later everyone will forget about it when the nextyuekit
    • controversy or crisis comes along. With Trump as president, there will probably be at least 50 of those before the election.yuekit
    • while you are right about the MSM you think he won't whine about it all the time? :)renderedred
    • he's going to use the impeachment as much as possible, since he's not being removed by the senate. this will be his"victory" too.renderedred
    • Yeah for sure. The thing is people are so divided already, I'm not sure it's possible for his supporters to feel any more outraged and aggrieved :)yuekit
    • Think back to two previous controversies that got huge media coverage, the Mueller investigation and Kavanaugh confirmation to Supreme Court.yuekit
    • At the time lots of people saying this would be the end of Trump or guarantee Trump's reelection. But in reality the polls barely changed at all.yuekit
    • he's polling what? 30+ most of the time? his base doesn't move and that's the sad reality. that's all he needs.renderedred
    • Yea the personality cult among his base is a big advantage. However since there are only two major parties here you need to get close to 50% to win.yuekit
    • if you take into account 2 things: 1 not everybody votes and 2 electoral college system, he's more less fine with 30+renderedred
    • all he need is on little tiny slip up by the democrat candidate turned into a media frenzy and he's done.renderedred
    • *needs is onerenderedred
    • he'll just bang the same message "it's the communist or me" for example. enough...renderedred
    • if it's not biden and if it's biden he'll destroy him with the whole hunter thing. biden has 0 chance against trump.renderedred
    • and on top of that he has the failed impeachment card. #winningrenderedred
    • I dunno, the Trump voters get a lot of attention because he won last time. But don't underestimate the anti-Trump side (i.e., normal people :) which most pollsyuekit
    • put at over 50% of the voting population. In the elections for Congress that happened exactly one year ago, there was a huge turnout and the vote wasyuekit
    • 54% Democrat, 45% Republican. So it's not like Trump is invincible, yes he has his supporters but a lot of people are just sick of the endless trainwreck atyuekit
