Just had a package picked up by a burly old-school London cabbie. He verbally skipped a comma so i was a bit taken aback when he responded "Alright lovely". A bit forward, I thought - I've just met him.

- ha. Set's no Londoner, or particularly burly, but I can imagine him saying "alright lovely" to me...Nairn
- no worse than being called "mate" by someone you've never met before.hans_glib
- I've always thought that, hans. 'Mate' in that context is a word I can't ever bring myself to use other than sarcastically. It's just too gosh-darned Southern.Nairn
