Neverforget that something like 90% of U.S. conservatives supported Bush's invasion and occupation of Iraq back in the early 2000s.

Hard to believe now but a majority of Americans and a super majority of conservatives were strongly in favor of the same war that triggered U.S. decline for the next two decades, led to the rise of ISIS, etc.

It took over a decade but now it's hard to find anyone who will openly admit they thought the Iraq War was a good idea. Even Trump, who supported it at the time, defines himself as being against it.

All of which is to say...there's no guarantee Republicans will support Trump forever either. If you're a conservative, time to get ahead of the curve and realize this was a bad idea, because it's only going to get worse from here...

    • but... you have to take into account that wars are basically business, very lucrative...renderedred
    • Def Iraq was stupid but how does this compare with the overt regime change of Lybia leader Kaddaffi by Obomba? That was the most recent political blunder.robotron3k
    • ^ you were for it JazX. As was I. We were wrong, but you're still wrong.mathinc

    • Remember there was already a civil war in Libya, the U.S. and NATO intervened for a few days to tip the balance to the rebels.yuekit
    • It might have been ill-advised but I don't think you can compare to the multi-year invasion/occupation of Iraq where something like a million people died.yuekit
