Pop-up blockers are selective if they are done properly...
Example from Safari Help: "Blocking pop-up windows stops only pop-up windows that open when you open or close a page. It does not block pop-up windows that open when you click a link."
Lots of users want pop-ups to appear when they click on clearly marked popup content (such as enlarged views of images), and will have their preferences set accordingly.
So use a link: "Launch this site really really big" and you shouldnt have a problem?
