Deathboy > I don't really rise to this stuff but it's something I actually see as a problem. You say culture shock and immigration are normal things to be scared of? Are they? Should they be? Guns might not be the direct problem, but they seriously don't help. I see it as a deeper political agenda when governments spout things like computer game violence or misunderstood mental health being the reason these things are happening. I see it as a reason to give corporations like Facebook and Google more monitoring power to close down free speech and further control the internet. To collect more data on our habits further understanding how they can keep the control they desire so much. I see it as a half-assed way of integrating more and more big brother-style narratives as a form of policing the state via the internet. It's the neo-liberalist culture we're seeing develop in the west in order to give them more and more power, spreading fear and bullshit. Surely you see it all the time? Our inability to control the internet or limiting our own personal use of it is fucking us up. White supremacy and islamaphobia are simple stories that scare people into thinking the world is a cesspit of violence and hate. You come off the internet and realise in real life people are genuinely pretty good to each other, just our anxieties are ramped up by yet more fear. The fact that more people kill THEMSELVES globally than any war, conflict or terrorism now shows quite clearly that political power and their agendas to protect themselves and their establishments are causing more societal unrest than we are personally? Or am I chucking up yet more conspiratorial nonsense!!
