My deal with it is its more political grand standing than anything. This new grandiose big plan thinking that drives careers and makes promises by people whos careers will be over but reaped all the benefits of such shit. Secondly logistics. And lastly the social precedence.

Why 2090? Just throw out a blind number on what seems like a average lifespan and fund it without knowing the costs. Every 5 years costs end up growing past expectations. A endless fund will seek endless scammers, and the costs to deal with and monitor scammers will add to the bottom line debt owed by tax payers. These scammer swill mostly be generated out of a single area but nationally funded. I think if NYC handled it by NYC you would see more skin in the game and a better ran fund. One thing I have also noticed is the increasing federally declared disasters calls. Local politicans have now figured out hwo to capitalize on fed funds. This will be a whole new ball park in setting up victim funds chasing this public dime trend for state politicians.

Personally i'm happy people take on jobs I'd rather not deal with, police, firefighters, shit picker uppers. And shit happens. People follow self interests in jobs and take on risks. This happened to be an unusual risk and they die they die. Better a learning mechanism to think twice about such things than maybe eh we will get paid big time if something bad happens. If in life every poor decision or even just being wrong place at wrong time needs to be paid for by others, well fuck society or as robbins wrote "All Uncle Larry is saying is that individuals have to accept responsibility for their own bad choices. If every time we choose a turd, society, at great expense, simply allows us to redeem it for a pepperoni, then not only will we never learn to make smart choices, we will also surrender the freedom to choose, because a choice without consequences is no choice at all. Maybe it boils down to the premium we want to place on liberty."

A decent amount of public funds have been spent and time to move on. ESPECIALLY considering our current bank balances.

And think of this type of thinking applied if SF destroyed by earthquake. You know politicians in CA will want fed funds to cover their voters. Its completely unsustainable and impractible and quite frankly fuckin retarded.

And funny side note (not in side note because thought of it before) we would have had more funds not chasing the war narrative aftermath and less debt to better allocate funds necessary, but end of day no funds your fucked. But also the war and interest rates and oil and everything is all more complicated than such a decision, but we cant recall how quickly people slopped up terms like WMD without understanding fully, or questioning what that term meant. The mob is quite a stupid blob of goo.

    • your black hole is like a yawn, you make me want to shitcanoe
    • that almost sounds like poetry... is their not a tread for poetry?deathboy

    • I get where you're going, but conflating a natural disaster with people responding to an act of terrorism is (as you put it) "fuckin retarded".ben_
    • These are people who were told it was safe to breathe the air in and around ground zero, doing their jobs, kids going to school, etc...ben_
    • anyone living in california knows the risks of an earthquake and you can measure it in some cost-benefit analysis if that's the way you like to think about...ben_
    • these things. 9/11 came out of nowhere and people by and large sought to help deal with it, so the least that could be done is take care of their med bills, no?ben_
    • And for the collateral damage of kids in schools nearby, small business owners chipping in to help out, etc. etc. you feel they should have just assumed...ben_
    • the risk would end in protracted terminal illnesses that would bankrupt their families? cool man, you're a champ.ben_
    • boy you are ignorant.utopian
