"If the road you followed brought you to this, of what use was the road?"

I think about this scene a lot in the context of Trump and the general American response, primarily from the neoliberalist/Nancy Pelosi stans who believe that if we just go back to 2013 policies everything will end up a-ok.

Like, what part of corporate institutionalist policy and media obsessed representation doesn't lead to a path that ends with Trump, or a Trump-like figure? Obama literally got away with murder because he was a hawk who knew how to play the media, but appealed to liberal guilt. Trump is the far-right version of Obama's center-right position.

So to think that removing Trump from office (just to instill Pence, no less) somehow gets America 'back on track' is just staring at a an assassin with a shotgun thinking you can convince him not to pull the trigger.

    • I don't think people think it will put the country back on track...it will lessen the possibility of nuclear war, maybe, and take us a step away from blatant, allthethings
    • out-loud racism.allthethings
    • It's clear that the US needs fundamental change, which is why the selection of Clinton was such a disaster. I think Warren, with her plans could helpallthethings
    • restructure this fucked-up country. Unfortunately the racists and idiots can't be put back in the crypt.allthethings
