i've noticed an incredible ignorance of "trumpian" tactics on the left. the adoption of empty but meme-worthy language, tactics and other things that have no backbone but are well-intended to play off the media circus. it isn't that anyone is anti-trump: they're just now adopting his methods for a slightly different set of policies.
i almost admire trump in this way, because his audacity is at least blatant and honest. it isn't that the democratic party gives two shits about the kids dying at the border - it's that they would never openly admit to not caring about their well-being. it's still a party that backs the idea of a globalized corporate state, world police and literally every aspect of late capitalism that creates the conditions to which end up with people being put in cages. trump just goes up and does a taylor swift "haters gonna hate" and says fuck you.
i don't necessarily think people see how drastically he's altered the framework of politics, in that he's given the media even more leverage in their bloodlust for headlines, while the actual journalism out there is even more reserved for the elites that honestly wouldn't have to worry one way or the other.
until we hang them all from the lampposts.
- yup. a full on shit show. But the media has always profited off hyperbole and 'click bait' headlines. They're just getting better and better at it.inteliboy
- That's a dangerous over simplification. People do actually care, even if you don't.formed
- I think everyone (on both sides) "gives two shits" about kids dying at the border. They're kids. Do you think every politician is a psychopath?********
- But just because you care doesn't mean it's an easy situation to deal with. There are kids dying all over the world for unjust reasons.********
- To say Dem's are the same as Trump is ridiculous. Clearly lobbyists and special interests run rampant in DC, butformed
- your conclusions there are kinda silly.
Trump turned the game into a school yard shoving match and brought all the cockroaches out.formed - Literally any one of us could help hundreds of kids by just using our old phone an extra year or buying a few less vinyl albums or eating out less often.********
- So, yes, in the ways he's taken 'dumb' and dumbed it down to the level of a toddler is amazingly effective, sadly.formed
- Let's look at ourselves first, and ask "what can I do to help?" rather than blaming everyone else for things that we, too, have some blame to accept.********
- @nb
Could you explain how spending less helps children?deadsperm - You could help some kids who need it more than you.********
- OK, I get it. It's not the spending less that is helping them but the giving more. One can always give more.deadsperm
- Correct. Charity isn't a long-term solution for the world's problems, but sometimes people actually just need a meal or a bit of help to get them moving again.********
- i'm saying the way the democrats and those in charge at large act are in line with "business as usual"colin_s
- as opposed to disrupting the status quo to do something like, ya know, not have kids die in cages.colin_s
- maintaining the familiarity of the system is more important to them than the perils of most people. even though that system has been hell for most people.colin_s
- I blame whomever allowed CNN to be the
national news station for 30k airports in USA. Their whinny reporters are still sad about Hillary loss...robotron3k - +1 for hanging people from lamppostsrenderedred
