An interesting thing I have seen recently is the televised congress hearing or groups of private individuals. Most without any real meaning. Than we have supreme court justices. And almost everyone involved in these public platforms seem to be running for higher office. Or may I suggest the obvious that none of the show is out of a greater good, but to progress individual careers.

Now it's a two party system. In this case one party is political and the other media (right vs left means little). Ever since Trump trumped the debates never has media fully realized the true entertainment value. Look at NYtimes profits as what generates revenue. Hell MSM is mainstream media, not journalism. Its simply entertainment trying to sell fools on what it means to be "informed" which is mostly emo spoonfed garbage that caters to their base, or more so media "junkie".

But mostly this push to televise stuff I.e get mueller on tv really shows true intentions. i doubt any that would get to questions has an objective larger than their own. and i think this tv staging from mueller to kavanaugh is becoming very dangerous to society. Media is framing narratives in lowest common denominator stances don't reflect true nature of reality

Take for example the alabama abortion stuff. Yes maybe a larger shot at roe vs wade, but where is the objective stance in actual effects of the legislation. How many abortions per year. How many are involved due to rape or incest which is the largest pissed off factor? I think media as entertainment is all that matters for sales. and most just falling inline. None the wiser. Because simply they feel others are more qualified to tell them stuff that is important and know what is important.

always funny seeing how many who try to seem like they know alot, know actually little. but thats "experts" in our biz. Anyone believes theyre an expert has earned what they will receive.

    • The experts have been replaced by pundits, and when an expert does get a platform, the lines have been blurred enough that their input has the same weight as aT-Dawg
    • Pundit. And unfortunately nuanced debates have been replaced by quick sound byte punch/counterpunchesT-Dawg
    • Which makes education and critical thinking so important for help in navigating through a lot of BS, sensationalism, and trickeryT-Dawg
    • I'd think the solution probably lies in education rather than trying to change msm. Change the consumer and msm will follow.T-Dawg
    • education is the foundation. however i think that system has been a part in how we view media. ive said it before and ill say it again i think postman nailed it

    • even our perception of education has been altered into following demogaoues at the front of the room and memorization vs critical thinking
      ********
    • and the monetization of colleges by private banking and enterprise due to the secured risk in loans by gov and public
      ********
    • has changed in how education is marketed and consumed

    • So, any ideas on improving the education system? Seems to me curriculum and funding are the two major things that would need to be addressed.T-Dawg
    • funding not a huge issue. but curriculum has a ton of potential. i think we are looking at uber and tech and missing out on potential for education

    • what if people pursued edu privately? ignore all merit based on papers and real xp liek a trade school. why not open gig economy to any job edcuator

    • somehting i have noticed is todays work force is slow and terrible in the lower areas. out of college stuff is expected as a reward or shit for college.
      ********
    • get rid of the college paper shit that means little and push real opportunities. bring back unpaid internships, but remind those need no school
      ********
    • pay 40-80k and have to work an unpaid internship when someone doesnt have to pay that and can get the same thing...
      ********
    • why some people against unpaid internships in what they see as unfair competition.

    • I agree with you that a lot of focus & weight on 'academic achievement' doesn't necessarily translate to the economy or workforce in the best way.T-Dawg
    • I think more technical programs are needed, and sort of like what you're mentioning, a closer tie-in to the workforce.T-Dawg
    • Much like medical residencies, but spanning much more broadly through all fields.T-Dawg
    • There's a lot to cover otherwise, it's a huge topic, but I think we recognize
      A. the loan crisis
      B. the work crisis
      C. an uneducated voter base
      T-Dawg
    • Are all issues that need a little bit of attention.T-Dawg
    • need a lot more attention. but not in the way their is a magical fix, but highlight the problem has been the fixes
      ********
    • i'd be careful to suggest technical programs as a solution.. it could be in select in areas. I propose letting markets decide and freeing up opportunity
      ********
    • opportunity may come from a gov backed student loan for some, but at much larger costs for the whole. and since the policy has little to do with achievements
      ********
    • broadening opportunity and simply being a secured and protected source of debt for investment and easy gains
      ********
    • you will see a market shift selling it as great, and commodifying it as something simple as a a very expensive tshirt.
