lol...looking at reactions online it seems like everyone hated that episode but I thought it was surprisingly great. Sure you can poke holes in the pacing and logistical issues all day but on a thematic and visual level it delivered.

Honestly I think a lot of the hatred consists of people who were too emotionally invested in the show turning out a certain way. When in reality the best thing about the show from the beginning...which I was afraid they were going to wimp out on...is the cold eyed view it has taken of its own characters. The fact that it pissed off people who go to Game of Thrones conventions and named their kid Daenerys is just proof that is was good IMO.

I liked the decision to show what taking down a city actually looked like from the other side. The show puts you in a position where you're cheering for it to happen, but then confronts you with the reality of what it involves. The confrontation between the two brothers being the "final battle" was unexpected but quite poetic mirroring the conflicted duality of the show overall.

    • yeah, I was too invested in the writing being any fucking good.e-wo
    • What happened to the archers? I assume they went up in flames, but there wasn't much arrow action later on.PhanLo
    • There were some scenes at the beginning where they tried to load and aim the crossbows but they were too slow and the dragon incinerated them.yuekit
