"Six couples who were found guilty of violating Islamic law based on a Sharia Court ruling undergo caning.
The male partner was sentenced to caning namely Edianto bin Abdul Hamid with a sentence of 23 lashes. Then, Rizki Kurniawan bin Alm Rusli Abdullah with a sentence of 20 lashes, Ria Zuelmi bin Zulkifli with a sentence of 25 lashes. As well as Julfikar M Yusuf with a sentence of 28 lashes, Surya bin Hamdani and Tarmizi bin Amiruddin were sentenced to 10 lashes each. While their female partner was whipped, Nurlaili binti Alainsyah, sentenced to 23 lashes, Rita Zahara binti Alm Bakhtiar was sentenced to 20 lashes. Then, Netty Herawati binti Mukhtar was sentenced to 25 lashes, Erlina binti Sipui with a sentence of 25 lashes. As well as Nutidawati bint M Yusuf and Yayang Maulida bint Zuwaini Oscar with 10 lashes each.
The whipping took place in the courtyard of the Lamgugop Mosque in the Syuhada Gampong, Syiah Kuala District, Banda Aceh, on Monday. The canings were witnessed by hundreds of people."
