According to Spielberg, Netlfix = bad and should be kept out of the oscars. But magically, Apple = good.
I wonder when his partnership agreement began with Apple.
- eat your words bergdbloc
- Spielberg argued Appleās streaming films could be worthy of oscars? I doubt that.monospaced
- He went on at length to describe why netflix should be excluded, and isn't real cinema, and a lot of those attributes apply to Apple.zarkonite
- He even said: "the greatest contributions we can make as filmmakers is to give audiences the motion picture theatrical experience."zarkonite
- Shitty seats, overpriced junk food, noisy crowds, babies, limited schedules, sticky floors... you bet, that's the best way of enjoying a movie!zarkonite
- I guess I missed the part where Apple is opening a chain of theatres and not, in fact, selling a streaming box to attach to your TV at home.zarkonite
- yupmonospaced
- Cinema's can fuck off. Phone's constantly flashing, morons bringing their 4 year old (and feeding it candy) to a 3 hr Star Wars movie, $40 popcorn. Pass.section_014
- Spielberg and the Academy are completely out of touch with the modern cinema experience. They even stream their contender screeners now, to avoid theatres.i_monk
- I love going to the cinema. Maybe stop going to shitty cinemas with 4yo kids?inteliboy
- Your lounge at home is the most boring, passive, non-committal and lazy way to see a film.inteliboy
- whoah, honey theater is a huge thing. some of them are the most involved setups and offer the best movie experience possible.monospaced
- *home theatermonospaced
- "overpriced junk food"
If you're going to the movies to eat maybe you really don't need to go the movies.deadsperm - I've never been to movies with babies or sticky floors, maybe your problem has more to do with your choice of movies.deadsperm
- When I want a cheap bag of Doritos and clean wipes I load up Pornhub in the comfort of my home.deadsperm
- Your name seems apt, deadsperm.Nairn
- @dead: I used to go for the movies, are you saying you think I shouldn't be allowed to eat while watching a movie?zarkonite
- @intelli: I don't control the cinema environment, it's full of potential ways in which a movie can be ruined as opposed to my home. Cinema = lesser experience.zarkonite
- @zarkonite
It's your God given freedom to eat at the movies. But if your main concern is getting reasonably priced junk food your best bet is staying at home.deadsperm - And although I DON'T think you should not be ALLOWED to eat at the movies, personally I don't think experiencing a film NEEDS to be associated with eating.deadsperm
- I didn't mean to tread on you, bro. I would NEVER stand in the way between you and a bag of Doritos.deadsperm
- I actually don't want junk food, that's the problem because that's all they serve. Also the industry has decided that in order to operate a cinema successfullyzarkonite
- you have to sell crap to make a profit and stay open. I'd love it if there wasn't any food, less interference, but once again it's an inferior viewingzarkonite
- experience than at home. The seats are mostly badly positioned, the screen usually has terrible colours, the sounds is not nearly as crisp and detailed as myzarkonite
- home theatre. Forget about it if you need to pause for some reason etc. Cinemas have been shit for a long time, and you haven't really said anything in theirzarkonite
- defence. So, why do you think cinemas are so fucking great?zarkonite
- Because I'm poor. The cinemas I go to have a bigger screen with better quality video and audio than what I have at home. AND movies I don't have a home.deadsperm
