Whatever happened to mobile gaming? It was supposed to overtake all consoles. And here I have my fancy new Samsung Galaxy S10 with 8GB Ram and a CPU almost on par with some laptops and yet all the mobile games (on iOS and Android) still suck and are stuck at the same level they were 5-10 years ago.

There were only a handful triple-A mobile games like "Modern Combat" and EA Sports titles but that's about it.

I just don't understand the game industry and developers: Here you have a massive market, yet the games are still mostly "stupid" casual games.

    • The only games suited to smartphones are the stupid casual ones. COD on an iPhone is like After Effects on an iPad Pro.MrT
    • Turns out people won't pay triple-A prices for mobile games. At all. They want $3 or free with in-app purchases only.monospaced
    • I think a lot of gamers prefer their television sets and home audio anyway. And of course, the big console players fought back hard with innovation.monospaced
    • ^ what mono said. Even $3 is too much for most. Has ruined the entire mobile gaming industry. Micro-payments and all that rubbish is in every damn iOS game.inteliboy
    • users with hardware like s10+ are not the norm and the market is dependent on pay2win etc. because apps have to be freemekk
    • mobile gaming is trash and will always be. Get a switch if you want mobile gaming.mekk
    • Nintendo cut them off at the pass. If Samsung (and then Apple, a year later) built Switch-like controllers it might change...i_monk
    • we've had stupid ass controllers for smartphones for years now and everyone failed miserably.mekk
