Since we're talking about us Dems...we need progressive candidates...whip smart, genuine, charismatic, and people who can't be characterized by Trump (if he' still there) as swampy, career politicians. Personally, I'd vote for Kamala Harris and Beto O'Rourke (or vice versa) in a heartbeat.
On the GOP side, I still can't believe they're not dumping Trump. He's gotten them their tax cuts and judges, it seems to me they'd be in a lot better shape entering 2020 with Pence with a year of the Presidency under his belt. Why they intend to discourage a primary challenge is beyond me.
- The GOP is too afraid to lose Trump's base, because that's almost all they have left.kirshar12
- Interesting that you picked those two names.. I'm seeing a lot of pushback against the idea of a Beto candidacy from the activist left.yuekit
- The thinking being that he might be a good campaigner, but actually has a pretty conservative voting history. And lacks the record of someone like Warren oryuekit
- Bernie Sanders.yuekit
- More generally you see a divide between the center left (which tends to be Baby Boomers) who just want a return to "normalcy" and favor candidates likeyuekit
- Beto and Joe Biden... vs the activist left and younger voters who want something different.yuekit

- I think the 'conservative voting history' thing has been largely debunked. He has voted his constituents' interests, as would be normal.allthethings
- Biden had a very center-right voting record back in the day. He was a good VP, and I found him appealing during the 08 and 12 campaigns, but he would not be aallthethings
- good choice for 20. Warren is great on banks, but they're both too told.allthethings
- I'm thinking the Dems need a better strategy for the white candidates like Jose Biden, Miguel Romney, Isabella Warren, y La Hillary to get the votes...robotron3k
