I'm a fucking idiot (you knew this) - the description I had to come up with to explain what I wanted had enough keywords in it for me to do a cursory net search, then check my library. Prior I'd been stupidly droninig through directories, clicking ones that sounded right and sweaing at my idiocy.
I thought Gotham, but didn't realise I had an 'extra narrow' flavour of it, which gave me the type of C I was looking for, and was missing from the likes of Trade, Franklin or News Gothic.
