Ebay is made by a 'PC-designer' and Palm is by a 'Mac-designer'?
On macs all the discs and app-switch is on the right side of the desktop. My user experience would make me have the tools, menus and stuff on the right side, but as with PC everything is on the left side.
As most webpages was (and is?) made (by PC-designers) with navigation on left side this is the general user experience and easiest for people to relate to.
Just a thought.
