“By 2022, I want the UK to be the G7’s number-one investor in Africa, with Britain’s private sector companies taking the lead.
“The challenges facing Africa are not Africa’s alone. It is in the world’s interest to see that those jobs are created, to tackle the causes and symptoms of extremism and instability, to deal with migration flows and to encourage clean growth.”

"The prime minister will recommit to maintaining the aid budget at 0.7% of GDP"
I'm sure leave voters are going to be please with out first venture into the world as a non eu country. Yes let us pour more money into Africa, a continent full of corruption.
I think leave voters want a UK first policy, cut foreign aid and investing in foreign initiative and sort out the UK first.
How about that 0.7% is spent on uk problems first? Then if there's anything left we can go around being all godly dishing out cash here and there.
My mum's local swimming pool up in the north of uk, in one of the poorest parts of the country, closed down as there wasn't enough government support to keep it ticking over. Her village is now lacking any leisure/health facility. A place for all ages to gather and spend time doing something healthy - gone. But that's ok, let's hand over 0.7% gdp to some African dictators to buy themselves some gold watches.
The problem with the UK has never been the EU, it's entirely self inflicted by virtue signalling PM's and MP's who feel they need to sit atop of the world being the worlds saviour - dishing out aid and dropping bombs etc - while forgetting to see the country they reside in is crumbling.
- How about creating more jobs up in the north of the UK rather in Africa with UK money.shapesalad
- isn't china "taking over" Africa. Good god we are being coming colonial again.
Photo sums up my embarrassment.mugwart - hah the tories don't even do the PR slant -"we give aid to boost trade" - unashamed admission that it's not aid, with a dance.kingsteven
