Couldn’t resist and picked up a 2018 MBP today to replace my 2011 MBP who’s logic board is fried. Got the base model 15” with 256gb drive, which would be too small compared to the older one’s 1TB SSD except for the fact that almost everything lives on my iMac with a 2TB drive and 3TB of external drives. Home network is fast so I can access stuff wirelessly easily.
Thinking of doing selective backups with the new Google Drive so various things are always available if I’m not at home.
Barely used it yet but the TouchBar feels surprisingly intuitive; in the store was my first time to even use it.
- Didn't know what to expect of the TouchBar, but I am quickly loving it. Busy going through old photo folders and tagging pics for deletion.mg33
- Really easy to just have the color tags visible in the TouchBar and assign them.mg33
- good to hear. I'm about to do the same, but I'm vacillating between the laptop and the iMac - the $ goes so much further on the desktopGnash
- I use the dropbox Smart Sync feature. it's pretty great because you can still see the files in your local folder.Gnash
- It's a good machine. I love mine. And learned to love the TouchBar too. Very useful if you customize it a bit.NBQ00
- but you need a dongle to charge your brand new iPhone with itmonospaced
- mono, at home I never charge my phone on my computers. We’ve got wall chargers in a couple rooms. I’ve since moved my phone backup to an iMac too.mg33
- just sayin ;)monospaced
- if you ever do want to use your computer to charge your phone, you need a dongle, unlike the last decademonospaced
