Bought the new 2018 MacBook Pro 15'' the other day. Love it. And even like the touchbar now. The base model with 2.2ghz 6-core i7 is plenty too. I don't think the faster ones are that much faster because the machine and your usage doesn't even utilize it fully most of the time. And the base model can turboboost all 6 cores up to 4.1ghz anyway if you have software that can do multi-cores and if extra speed is required.

I was on a 13'' for years. Now a 15'' laptop feels massive. But love the extra screen space.

No throttling issues either nor any problems after the updates/ patch.

Very happy and can only recommend it if you're thinking of buying one.

    • I believe these are rolling out at work in a couple of weeks. I’m a bit apprehensive about the transition.monospaced
    • I have the last MBP that had a mag safe charging cable and regular USB ports. Getting rid of those but adding a touch bar doesn’t seem like an upgrade to me.monospaced
    • I've had a late 2016 MBP for over a year now. Do not miss magsafe at all. Maybe I got a bit more cautious to not trip over the cable...NBQ00
    • ...that said there are some third-party mag-safe adapters for the usb-c if you want it back: https://www.theverge…NBQ00
    • I’ll need one. The MagSafe when it first came out was such a great touch.monospaced
    • last good MacBook Pro they ever made: https://everymac.com…shapesalad

    • I disagree. Been on that 2014 and can't beat the new 2018 ones. I also agree with Apple about ditching old ports. Most stuff these days over cloud.NBQ00
    • I wonder if they have improved the touchbar since last year's version. I like the new machines overall, but that one aspect seems not ready for prime time.yuekit
    • Like I'll be typing, and it will randomly trigger iTunes to open and other weird shit.yuekit
    • I was concerned about that too. Surprisingly no accidental stuff on the TB so far. Love TouchID but hope a wider implementation on all passwords.NBQ00
    • The keyboard is really nice to type on as well and slightly quieter than my previous late 2016 13'' version.NBQ00
    • I've had the twenty seventeen for over a year. The touchbar sucks. I like to rest my hands at the top of keyboard and I accidentally trigger actions from touchhotroddy
    • the keyboard sucks. my keys get stuck and the letter 't' will make a double enttryhotroddy
    • the magsafe you don't need it. You can charge it from the left or right so tthat is a nice feature.hotroddy
    • I can't can't the number of times the touchbar has been useful in one hand.hotroddy
    • I upgraded, keyboard is so much better... amazing what a minute adjustment can make. Touchbar still useless. My DAW (reason) still runs crap.inteliboy
    • I yet have to try BetterTouchTool to tweak the Touchbar. Not missing any features for now but people say the app is great.NBQ00
    • Just love it. Can throw at it a lot. Running After Effects and 3D apps side by side, rendering and CPU less than 40-50% on all cores.NBQ00
