I've been using Avast for as long as I remember on all my machines (PC W10). I also have Malwarebytes, if there is a file suspicious and Avast still can't find anything on it.
Having said that, I wouldn't go alone just with Defender that comes standard with W10, coz even viewing some hotlinked images on some sites, even on QBN (older pages), Avast pops up once a in while.
Last, known torrent files and sites are good but once you start downloading, some port attacks do happen occasionally and again Avast pops up to warn you. So, I trust Avast alone with MB on the side, I have never ever had any issues. Hope this helps.
