While getting a shopping cart at the grocery store I hear a woman yelling "Do these work" as she's unsuccessfully attempting to insert plastic bottles into recycling machine stations. As I'm walking by with my cart I hear one of the workers say "no work, no work" pointing to all the machines. I come here often so I know his English isn't perfect but the woman continues yelling.

He's now said "no work" 100 times so he walks off and this lady is beside herself in anger. While I'm walking by I say "he said they don't work miss. The sign says out of order right there." She turns to me with this angry look on her face and says "what, he can't even speak proper English, what's the world coming to?" I respond "Miss, to be honest, I assumed you were the one who didn't speak English or at least don't understand english - he was only trying to help and he did say it didn't work 100 times - I'm not sure why you're insulting the only person trying to help you?" Now she's even angrier so I continue on my way.

The lady finds me in the store 10 minutes later, gets in my face and confronts me with "I know you think you're open minded but I'm deaf" as she begins to remove her hearing aid/device while she's yelling in my face wanting to show me her ear. I respond "Whoah, miss, please back away from me b/c now you're insulting me, the second person who was attempting to help you. I'm not sure why you're angry but why are you telling me you're deaf, did I offend you by questioning whether you spoke english?"

    • I think you needed to repsond to her with a "what the funk?"!shapesalad
