"The corporate world pushes extroversion on people"

I remember my first ad agency job: we were in little rooms, max 4 people to each room. Bosses had their own rooms. It was good. Could focus and it was fun having a visitor/visiting others. Agency pulled down the walls and made it open plan. Became a really miserable place to work.

    • My impression is there's been an increasing amount of push back against open plan workspaces in tech circles over recent years.detritus
    • Whomever thought the open workspace idea was good for people other than google employees was an idiot.monospaced
    • They pulled this shit at our corporate offices and now there are a hundred marketing people having phone conversations on the floor at once. It’s chaos.monospaced
    • Creatives can maybe put on headphones, but it’s totally non productive as an environment. Collaboration is worse when people stop showing up.monospaced
    • Of course they almost encourage flexibility, aka work from home, which is just more extroversion. People just don’t come in anymore. We need walls back!monospaced
    • Surely working from home is introversion?robthelad
    • right, that's what I meant :)monospaced
    • basically, my point is that it's failing to encourage extroversionmonospaced
